Make use of Google Earths detailed globe by tilting the map to save a perfect 3D view or diving into Street View for a 360 experience. Heated seat subscriptions are a joke and as of now GM laughs at other brands charging monthly for things like heated seat and command start subscriptions. Feature images and videos on your map to add rich contextual information. The OnStar plan just allows you to start the vehicle from anywhere in the world, Onstar plans aren't necessary, the GM training points out it is a way to elevate the owner experience if so desired. Remote start is standard on GM vehicles 2018 and newer. One thing I can say for absolute certainty is that you do not need to pay a subscription to remote start your vehicle or warm your butt. People are dumb and break stuff all the time. The subscriptions sound a lot more nefarious than they actually are though, I don't think GM and dealerships are worried about their service centers going out of business any time soon. This is true, the maintenance is minimal on electric. The subscriptions just mean you would have access to a global map all of the time. I don't really agree with the whole subscription services offered, so I'm glad GM offers ways to use these systems without paying for the data subscription. ![]() You can download and delete maps as needed and they update themselves when you reconnect to the internet. A great use for this is if you are going to do some offroading somewhere and want to have a map of the area, or are visiting a new city. Once downloaded the maps work just as you would expect a built in NAV system to operate. I have tested this with and without using a google account to sign into the vehicle. You can connect he vehicles to your home wi-fi and download maps for use offline. This one is something most people are not understanding. There are a few ways to use the built in Google systems:ġ) You can pay for the OnStar plan for in vehicle wi-fi.Ģ) You can connect your vehicle to your phone's personal hotspot and use your mobile data.ģ) You can use the feature offline by downloading map 'chunks' directly to the vehicle. Google maps does not need a data subscription to use, it does however require some kind of access to the internet. Hey all I'll chime in as someone in sales for a GM dealership. ![]()
